Our investment philosophy is rooted in faith with established guidelines for the prudent investment of the Upper Peninsula Catholic Foundation's (UPCF) assets. The overall investment objective of the Foundation is to preserve and protect fund principal while achieving a long-term net rate of return sufficient to cover spending (typically 3-6% of net assets) plus administrative fees. Asset diversification, socially responsible investing (in accordance with Catholic teachings), a long-term investment philosophy and moderate level of risk will be assumed to achieve the overall investment objective.
In order to meet the purpose, philosophy and goals stated above, the UPCF board, or designated committee, will engage the services of The National Catholic Investment Pool (NCIP). The UPCF board, or designated committee, will meet with representative(s) from the NCIP at least annually to ensure compliance with the purpose, philosophy and goals of the UPCF investment policy. In addition, the UPCF board, or designated committee, shall review reports provided by the NCIP to ensure compliance with the purpose, philosophy and goals of the UPCF investment policy.
